USA Begins

Given the news of the first possible outbreak of COVID-19 in the US, I decided to stay up to look at the data from today.

It appears to me that we are entering the second wave of disease, beginning on about February 19th. I need to do a graph of the disease in mainland China, but I think that their heavy-handed approach has probably helped with the outbreak there and what we are seeing is the emergence in Iran, Italy, and South Korea.

The US is puzzling. There are a lot of sporadic cases since this began. Compare that to the pretty consistent early epidemic curve in the other three countries above. That might account for the new problem in Washington I alluded to at the beginning. It was just a matter of time before we started seeing the case count rise here. Obviously, I’ll be monitoring this much more closely now.
